Since 2002 the idea of organizing women through self help group was initiated, SHG’s were organized savings and credits programme were introduced women started joining in the SHG’s many village, at present been involved in 4 blocks in Chengam Thandrapatu,Pudhupalayam and Kilpenthur Block.  They were started going monetary benefits by joining shg movement through it credit facilities along with this they were given lot of training and awareness activities which made them feel empowered by gaining various information, acceptance and respect from society as a group  and as a respectable women.  They started feeling a contribution to their family need at large to the community and society.

This shgs movement grown in the size and quality and  about 1225 shg are started working in the project area and their are 19800 women enrolled as its members.  They have collected Rs  25,00,000,00 and they have distributed as loans to its members for various purpose they has got credit assistance  DIIRECT,THADCO and SGSY schemes. At present under HDFC micro finance programme 2,61,00,000 have been given to 191 SHG for Agriculture and allied activities

 SHG Activities

During the year 2007-2008 , 655 Shg  member were provided for the purchase of milch animal for the economic activities and the now supply milk to the govt vendors and private vendors. Under NABARD MEDP and skill trainings were given to shg members on Japanese Quail rearing, Banana fiber products, Cotton waste and Ball pen refill making etc around 150 women enterperneur were created after this training and they were availed loan for strating their business.
